10 items that every traveller should take on a trip: the definitive travel guide

Travelling is fun, but packing? Not much. Here's your guide to some crazy travel tips and hacks to help you pack like a pro for that much-anticipated vacation.

We will tell you one by one everything you need to pack for your type of trip. But before that, take a look at what you don't need to pack! Click here to read our blog about what not to pack for vacation.

On a trip from one to two days

For short trips, you don't need to pack a lot of stuff, you just need the important stuff and you're good to go. If you intend to camp, hike, explore the wilderness or a small town, you will need the following things:

1. Backpack

The number one item a traveller need is a compact and versatile backpack with several hidden pockets so that you can always carry all your packed travel items wherever you go without too much worry of anything being stolen - (22L / 32L / 38L / 40L or whichever one can fit all the things you need ). Preferably they are sturdy, lightweight and have plenty of pockets so you don't have to dig around for every little thing.

2. Waterproof bags

AirTight Water Proof Bags for storing food, laundry or something for that matter to protect them from damage due to weather or surroundings. This also helps keep things organized, easy to access and store. You can get LOKSAK waterproof, reusable and resealable storage bags for the best utility. Weather conditions change and they can be equally annoying for you. Keep airtight bags to keep your belongings unaffected by rain or dust. Unexpected weather can ruin your backpack in this case, and keeping a rain cover sorts the problem out. You should keep your personal documents, gadgets, phone and essential belongings safely safe from unexpected leaks or weather changes.

3. Headlights/torch with extra batteries

A headlight, flashlight or flashlight is a must-have and absolutely essential for trekking, camping and hiking - you never know what time you'll reach your destination, so keep a light source with you as a basis. Whether it is an overnight flight or not, it is always important to keep a flashlight on, as there is always a chance to arrive late or face obstacles.

4. Multi-purpose shoes

You must have a comfortable pair of sneakers so if you make an impromptu plan for trekking or hiking, you will be ranked with that same pair. You don't have to worry about keeping multiple shoes or cancelling that trip plan. We recommend durable, waterproof running shoes that will support long walks around town or impromptu trekking plans, too.

5. Strong, lightweight and waterproof sleeping bags

When going hiking, picnicking or camping - carrying a sleeping bag becomes crucial as you may encounter unfavourable weather conditions that may interfere with your plan to pitch a camp tent.

6. Breathable, lightweight, weatherproof jacket

Make sure the size is appropriate, and the fabric is sturdy water- and weather-resistant, and doesn't restrict your range of motion. This is necessary in case of bad weather / unsuitable weather conditions to protect you from getting sick and cold. It is essential to wear a jacket that is lightweight and waterproof enough to block the wind if you feel cold. Don't spend too much and try to use what you already have in your closet. Jackets don't come cheap, but if you can afford one, buy a good quality one as they are really essential for hiking.

7. Tumbler / Reusable Water Bottle

One tip you'll always have before leaving for your trip is: stay hydrated! If you want to avoid the hassle of looking for places to buy your water bottle from, just keep a reusable one that you can also attach to your backpack. This lightweight and leak-proof filtered water bottle would be a great choice. The filter in the bottle is essential because it removes harmful bacteria such as E. Coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium and many other waterborne contaminants.

8. First aid kit

If you are going for adventure sports activities such as hiking, trekking or camping, a first aid kit is a must. The roads can be very bumpy and it is not surprising that many cuts and bruises occur during the journey. So keep your first aid kit ready as you can never neglect such an important trip. Always remember to carry a first aid kit with you - it is better to be safe than sorry. Not every part of the plant you touch or the animal you come across will be safe enough to escape easily. The excursion environment can be very dangerous at times.

9. Sunglasses

You don't have to go blind with the scorching sun falling in your eyes. UV rays can cause serious damage to your eyes, so always take care of protection.

10. Scarves, kerchiefs and socks

As we said, hygiene is very important, so bring an extra pair of necessary clothes that will facilitate your trip. Bring tissues and scarves to keep your face out of sweat and sunlight. Bring a pair of socks in case of cold weather.
